Everything on this site that was done by Laurel (Sailorhathor) is (c) LDW/Demented Stuff/The Pleasure of the People. Please do not use any of the ideas, material, or custom graphics contained in this site without talking to me first. I can be pretty easy-going when people just talk with me. Also, a few of the ideas aren't mine. I really appreciate getting credit and a link, overall. I can also put you in touch with any of the other authors featured here.

Miracles is (c) 2003 Spyglass Entertainment and Touchstone Television. Its main creator, Richard Hatem, is a sweetheart and a BABE. Fweet-fwew!

The lyrics on the splash page, the lyrics at the bottom of the main page ("I believe, I believe, with every breath that I breathe, you and me could turn a whisper to a scream"), and the phrase, "Cross to Bear," all come from the song "I Believe" by Bon Jovi, which is (c) 1992 Polygram Records.

Many of the following notes regard stories that I (Laurel) have planned but have not yet written nor put up on the site yet. I wanted to go ahead and post them because I can promise you I would have forgotten about them (the notes) if I didn't do it while I was thinking of it. So consider these notes teasers for now. ;)

If you have written a story that is on this site, and would like to include some Author's Notes/Credits with it, please feel free to send them in to be posted on this page.

Stories That Have Been Written and Posted:

Notes for Where is My Tunnel of Light?:
Thanks to K-kitty and Emby for the legal counsel on possibilities for Jon's 1-3 years. Also, thanks to K-kitty for helping me clarify empathy. Yes, "Jon"'s name was probably meant to be spelled J-O-H-N, but I've always prefered the J-O-N spelling, so sue me. ;)
If you get the Dr. Stratford and Dr. Linowitz refs, you get a great big cookie for people who recognize obscure sit-com references. ;D I salute you!

Notes for Psychomantium:
This story contains several of my original characters, including (modified versions of) Holly Macher, Paige Cash, and Dana Canon, who will all make appearances in later stories.
Ma'at's Oracle was inspired by an event from my childhood, which is a sort of funny but very spooky story. I've changed the identity of one person in this story because I don't really know if they'd want to be identified, based on certain events. Basically what happened was one night, my parents went out and left me with a teenage babysitter. I believe I was around 7 years old. We heard a very loud noise downstairs that sounded like a piece of furniture had fallen over, it was that loud. The babysitter told me to lock myself in the room while she went downstairs with a baseball bat to check on the noise. I was terrified waiting for her to come back. When she did, her face was white as a sheet, and she wouldn't tell me what she saw.

My parents came home shortly after, noticed the condition of the babysitter, and got the story out of her. She claimed she had seen a white, glowing head floating around my parent's bedroom, and that she could see it reflected in the dresser mirror and everything. It had floated into the closet and disappeared. I can remember my mother getting a golf club and going into the closet to look for the head, so we wouldn't freak out, thinking it was still in there and was going to come flying out at some later time. My parents found nothing. This incident was known for years afterward as the night my babysitter saw "the glowing head."

In retrospect, I found out years later that this babysitter was occasionally using recreational drugs during that time period, so it's possible she was just hallucinating. I can't exactly ask her, "Hey, were you on acid the night you saw the glowing head?" @_@ My mother even had one of those white styrofoam heads for wigs just sitting right there in the room, so it's always possible the babysitter was seeing things, with the styrofoam head as the featured player. I'll probably never know the truth. But it was such a spooky story that I always felt I had to use it in my writing someday. Incidentally, we never figured out what the source was for the loud crash we heard in the first place. O_O

Notes for We Were the Dead:
"Ghost Chasers" is based on the real life show "MTV's Fear." The contestants were inspired by some of my favorite people from that show; if you're familiar with it, see if you can guess who they are. Brent is a conglomerate of several different contestants who basically ran around screaming in terror and amused the heck out of me. Oh, and also, if you're familiar with the show, you'll find my backbiting commentary on certain aspects of it in this story, muhahahaha.

Lassiter McNeal and his wife, Diane McNeal, were inspired by real-life demonologist Ed Warren and his wife, psychic Lorraine Warren. The similiarities end there, though, because they never experienced anything like what happens in this story, and are both still alive.

Special thanks go out to Deejay (AlvaFan) for typing huge chunks of this story for me, and to her sister Candy for reading some of it to her to make typing easier.

See copyright information below for all the cross-overs featuring Supernatural.

Notes for the Ringu/The Ring/Miracles/Supernatural cross-over, "She Just Wanted to Be Heard":

The Ringu series is (c) 1998 The Ring/The Spiral Production Group. It is based on the novels by Koji Suzuki.

The motion picture The Ring is (c) 2002 DreamWorks Pictures. The title "She Just Wanted to Be Heard" comes from a line of dialogue spoken by Rachel in this movie. The motion picture The Ring Two is (c) 2005 DreamWorks Pictures.

I am quite sure that this fanfic will contradict the original books, but so do the movies, so SHRUG. :)

The idea for the webpages made by Alva Keel and Evelyn Santos in conjunction with this fanfic ("Alva Keel's Ring Diary") comes from a site I made for my role-playing game, SOPI. I have used this Ring cross-over idea before, in my game, and the site that time was made by a professor who watched the tape along with one of his Film Studies students (who brought it to him). I already had the pages made up, just needed to fix a few things to reflect the changes for Miracles and viola! I thought you guys would enjoy it, especially since it allows you to put pictures with the images described in the story. :)

Supernatural is (c) 2005 Kripke Enterprises, Wonderland, & Warner Brothers/The CW Television

Notes for the Only After Dark page:
"Only After Dark" is the title of a song written by Mick Ronson and performed by Def Leppard, (c) 1993 Bludgeon Riffola/Polygram Records. The lyrics, "Won't you disappear into midnight with me?" come from this song also.

Notes for The Lesson Part 1 and 2:
"The Lesson Part 1 and 2" contains an idea by A Brave Lass that came up during a brainstorming session. The idea is used with her permission.

Stories That Have Not Been Written or Finished Yet:

Notes for Such a Lovely Place:
Credits for this story will be included at the end of it. The notes could seriously spoil the story otherwise.

Notes for The One and Only Real Thing:
For those who have visited other parts of my site (Demented Stuff), Edge Donata/Michalchuk is a heavily modified version of the character Edge Dophim from SOPI and the character E from Sailormoon Dark. Beirget Tollop was also used in SOPI and has been slightly modified to fit Edge's mods. Read the story before you go look at either of those pages; in some ways, they'll spoil ya. Both SOPI and SMD are my creation (though SMD is based in the Sailormoon universe).

Notes for The Gentleman Who Fell Before the Court:
The title, "The Gentleman Who Fell Before the Court" comes from the song "The Gentleman Who Fell" by Milla, (c) 1994 SBK Records.

The characterization of Alva's childhood pet dog, Ricochet, was inspired quite a bit by my friend Karen Kling's dog, Maddie.

Notes for Currently Untitled:
An as yet untitled story will contain modified versions of my characters Paige Cash, Holly Macher, and Andrew Cash (all from SOPI). One of the ideas contained in this story comes from the Scare Tactics skit, "Little Girl Psychic." Exactly what will be detailed at the end of the story to prevent spoilage. Also, the name "K.K." comes right out of that skit.

Notes for Family Tree:
"Family Tree" contains an idea by Deejay (AlvaFan), which is used with her permission. I'll get into exactly which idea at the end of the story to prevent spoilage. Also, the basics behind Molly Kagan's paranormal experience for this story are based on a true experience of mine. This will also be explained at the end of the story to prevent spoilage.

Notes for The Coins Part 1: Chocolate Kisses:
The Coins are a team of assassins of mine that have been used in another story or two; I like their gimmick. ;)

Notes for The Coins Part 2: Stay With Me:
Steven Donata and Dagger Turnadot are modifications of the SOPI characters Steven Dophim and Dagger Dophim. London and Phillip are Dagger's children but they have never been played in SOPI simply because she's too young in that rpg to have them yet.

FAQ's

At this point, the Gonna-Be-Asked Questions.

What's the story behind choosing the title "Cross to Bear" for the site?

I thought it fit well because each member of SQ has their own cross to bear in life, their own demons to deal with (in some ways, literally!). Plus, the show has its own mythos that is tied in with faith and the Christian church; therefore, a cross theme seemed appropriate.

I need a place to host my Adult Rated "Miracles" sexfic. Will you host it?

In general, yes. My webhost does allow adult material. I have a few restrictions, though.
  • Nothing gross ("scat," animals, etc.).
  • No glorification of child abuse (you can have it as a story element, but there's a difference between simply writing about it and making it seem glamorous and good).
  • No stories in which Poppi and any member of SQ get it on (HUUUUURL). Okay, maybe Evelyn, but you're going to have to work to make me believe it. ;D
  • Certain stories where the canon characters are just way too out of character (this is an individual discretion thing; send it in and let me look). Making them out of character for the sake of comedy or really good sex, I will probably accept. ;D
