Another "Miracles" fan named Kaija had the following to say about the episode, "The Patient": "I was wondering if anyone else noticed that the closed captioning differs in one spot. Where Paul explains what he 'does for fun' and talks about the trip he and Keel took to Pennsylvania, you'll remember he mentions the set of identical twins born to different mothers. BUT the CC says, 'There was a rabid German shepherd. Its owners thought it was possessed by their dead grandfather.'" She thought someone might want to write a fic about this idea for an SQ case, so ducky took it on by writing this humorous ficlette.

Paul Callan entered the office on Midlothian Lane, and was surprised to find Alva Keel, his employer, covered with dust and grime, digging through a number of cardboard cartons that were lined up on the floor. He was shuffling through papers, obviously looking for something. Evelyn Santos, also employed by Sodalitas Quaerito, was nowhere in sight.

"You need help finding something?" Paul asked, smiling. Keel, bent over the boxes, had been unaware of Paul's entrance. He jerked around to look at Paul with a startled expression. Just as quickly, he stood up, and immediately tried to regain the calm and composed demeanor that Paul was accustomed to. He casually cleared his throat and began to brush some of the accumulated dust from his jacket while Paul looked on curiously.

"Ah. Paul. Yes. Well..." Alva Keel glanced at the boxes he had been searching, then turned back to Paul. "After our little adventure with 'Mr. Friendly,' I started to think about the case involving the possessed German shepherd, and I wanted to take another look at our files on that case. Normally, I'd have Evie help me find them, but Mattie has the flu and she took the afternoon off to take him to the doctor."

"I'll be happy to help you look for them," Paul offered. "That was last year, right?" Paul began to look for markings on the boxes that would indicate which ones were from last year.

Keel nodded, then continued to search the box he'd been looking through when Paul entered. Paul bent over the first box and began flipping through files. The two searched for about an hour, with no success.

"Are you sure it was last year?" Paul finally asked. I've looked through every file in this box, and there's nothing about a possessed dog."

Keel looked up from the box he was searching, and pounded his fist on the desk beside him. "No, Paul. I said a possessed German shepherd. Who said it was dog?"
